Collaborative for Aging Research and Engagement (CARE)
Collaborative for Aging Research and Engagement (CARE) is a community-academic network focused on raising awareness about brain health and Alzheimer’s Disease among African American/Black adults aged 45 and older. The network comprises faith-based organizations, healthcare providers, volunteers, and Indiana University researchers.
One of CARE's key efforts is a community-driven research project aimed at developing the CARE Platform, a multimedia information-sharing tool funded by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute on Aging. This platform is designed based on community input about living and aging well, rather than being a clinical trial.
CARE gathers data through surveys and community discussions to create resources that:
Increase awareness and knowledge about brain health among African Americans/Black adults.
Serve as a central hub for community resources on brain health and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Provide accessible information on Alzheimer’s studies, including clinical trials and research opportunities.
The goal is to ensure African American/Black communities are well-informed and motivated to learn more about brain health and Alzheimer’s Disease.
